Type & Symbol Combination Using Counterforms

A student exercise in combining typography and symbolism, a prerequisite skill for corporate identity work.

Constraints: The letter is black and the symbol is white. The letter used must be the first letter of the symbol
used (S and Sheep, B and Bowling, L and Lamp, etc.). Student must identify the counters of various letterforms.
Student must develop a symbol with an appropriate level of abstraction for easy recognition. Examples
of the visual concept in use are shown and discussed. The shape is implied, not outlined.
